At Orcasound Lab on Haro Strait we are developing ‘edge computing’ that applies AI directly to the signals coming from hydrophones just below where this eagle is staring.

Our current goal is to use the Ketos machine learning software package to build a residual neural network (ResNet) that will run on a Jetson Nano to detect and classify the wide variety of underwater sounds in Haro Strait, a major shipping channel in Southern Resident Killer Whale critical habitat.
